Stagetex – the first 20 months of being in business

iPod/iPhone MP4 | MP3 (Audio Only)

Matt talks with Pete Van Neste about his first 20 months of being in business. Pete owns a successful audio visual company called Stagetex that he runs from Liverpool.

Pete talks about how he got started in business as well as some of the key things he has done to build the business over the last 20 months. He tells us how being a Christian has impacted how he treats people (and the good knock-on-effect that has had) as well as what he wish knew when he started in business.

Final Session uploaded

I have just uploaded Session 6 podcasts. The first session has Nic Harding talking about Money, and the principles of Money. Chris Holcombe then follows with his story of being a successful surgeon as well as a landlord and hotelier! Unfortunately all of Chris’ talk was not successfully recorded – but there is still a fair chunk.

Myself and Ian Finch then answer questions about sales in the second part.
Hard to believe the school is now over – thanks again for all your commitment and a big thanks to all the speakers that helped on the school.
I will be in touch next week about the mentoring group.

Session 5 Podcasts

I have uploaded the podcasts for session 5.

In part one – I look at the leadership model and comment on the ideas of the leadership challenge being about inspiring out teams. Dan Prior continues to look at recruitment and specifically the importance of induction for new staff members as well as some great questions to ask during interviews.
In part two Graham Sharples talks from his 26 years experience about leadership and what it means from a Christian point of view to be the”boss” with some great principles for Christian employers. Dan Prior also talks about recruitment and how to set up a successful recruitment policy with tips on interviewing potential candidates for a job

Session 6 notes uploaded

I have now uploaded the notes for session 6 – our final session together in this first course.

Next week, we will look at the subject of money and how it relates to business. Hopefully Nic Harding will be sharing with us his views on the subject. The notes also talk about cash flow in your business.
Chris Holcombe, the chair of trustees and a business man in his own right, will also be giving us his story.
Ian Finch from Mando and myself will be talking about sales & marketing. (This subject is not talked about in the Session 6 notes).
After that we will have a time of impartation from the Holy Spirit – so please all come preparing to have a great time.

Session 3 Podcasts now uploaded and on itunes

I have just uploaded the session 3 podcasts. In the first session – Andy Kent, founder of Angel Solutions, shares his story of how he started in business as well as some of the key principles that he has discovered along the way that have helped him go from a small 1 man operation in his house to an industry leading company with a large international client base.Andy talks about the ideas of acting quickly, building great teams, sales and marketing as well as a whole host of other points that we face as Christian business people. Also in this session, Paul Brown shares some thoughts on setting up and running a social enterprise business in Merseyside and the UK.
In the second session – we have our live link with Simon O’Shaughnessy in New Zealand (there were a few technical problems – but it was still fantastic!). Simon O’Shaughnessy, a life coach and business coach as well as a very successful businessman in his own right shares some ideas and wisdom in the area of Goal Setting. This session was recorded from the live link we had between the UK and Simon who now lives in New Zealand. For more information about Simon – see www.carista.co.nz
Also uploaded are the documents that Simon referred to in his talk (see the 5 levels chart and iceburg image)
